Games4Golf: increasing your enjoyment of the game

Making the complicated simple

Immediately after the game of golf was invented, golfers started betting on it. Quickly a variety of games sprung up to make the game more interesting, challenging, lucrative, and fun.

Our Mission

To encourage fun, yet competitive game play during every round of golf. It is up to the players involved what they consider this to be, whether they choose to play for bragging rights or to gamble for actual money.

When gambling, wager an amount that is large enough to keep you competitive, yet small enough so that you enjoy your round, win or lose!

I don't gamble. Can I play for fun?

Absolutely! Games4Golf gives you the option to play how you want:

    Standard:
  • For money - select values per hole, per side bet, etc, from 1 cent to whatever you wish.

    Points:
  • For fun – set point values per hole, per side bet, etc and the winner gets bragging rights.
  • For money – have each player buy in for a set amount, then set point values for your bets and pay out a portion of the pot to the player that finishes 1st, 2nd, etc. This allows you to know the maximum amount that you can win or lose and stay within your comfort zone.

Where it all began: Poker4Golf

Many golfers share a love of poker and other strategy betting games, and we were looking for a game that borrows the wagering method of poker and marries it with the skill of golf. Since there was no easy way to keep track of this style of betting at the time, we developed our own!

The Poker4Golf application showed us how taking the math out of the equation allows players to concentrate on their game and have more fun. The next step is to expand this success to other golf games, side bets and tournament options.

I play in Amateur tournaments. Can I still play for money with my friends?

    Yes, so long as:
  • the individuals or teams of golfers participating in the wager in general know each other
  • participation in the wagering is optional and is limited to the players
  • the sole source of all money won by the players is paid by the players themselves
  • the amount of money involved is such that the primary purpose of playing the game is for enjoyment.

The risk of losing your status arises if you play for prize money that is put up by someone who is not participating in the contest. If you are a competitive golfer with an Amateur status and wish to protect it, contact the USGA, RCGA, or your local governing body to ensure that you know any applicable restrictions.
